The IHAC consists of members of each of the health science schools and representatives from the UW-Madison International Studies. The IHAC also strives to promote interdisciplinary collaboration in global health programs. Each of the health sciences schools has designated a faculty director and staff associate director to lead global health programs within their respective schools. Health problems, issues and concerns that transcend national boundaries, and may best be addressed by cooperative actions, represent what is encompassed by the term 'global health' (Reference America's Vital Interest in Global Health, Institute of Medicine, National Academy Press, 1997).
